Unveiling of memorial plaque in Franfkurt

On 8th May the unveiling of a memorial plaque on the site of the former British Consulate General in Frankfurt took place. The plaque commemorates the British General Consul and Vice Consul whose selfless efforts saved thousands of Jews from Nazi persecution in the years prior to WW2. The Lord Mayor of Frankfurt, the British Ambassador to Germany and Rabbi Wittenberg from London delivered addresses. Members of the families of the diplomats as well as those who had been saved were present.

This project was initiated and coordinated by John D. Goldsmith , Vice President of the AFF whose parents were saved. The AFF was not directly involved in this project . However in view of the close involvement of the AFF both through the FFZ in Frankfurt and the ideals underlying this project it is included in our “News".
