In Memoriam

«We have to go on living, go on building.
We don’t want to forget, but we mustn’t let
our memories lead us into negativism.»

Otto Frank, 16 March 1946

Edith, Margot and Anne Frank

After immigrating to Holland they went into hiding, were betrayed and deported to the concentration camps of Westerbork, Auschwitz and Bergen Belsen. They died there between January and March 1945, victims of the National Socialist (Nazi) policy of extermination of the Jews.

The Anne Frank Fonds (Foundation) Basel and the Frank-Elias families wish to link the memory of the lost members of their own family with the commemoration of all victims of National Socialism, including 1.5 million children.

Commemoration of the victims of these crimes against humanity is a warning against anti-Semitism, racism or discrimination of any kind .It is also an appeal for the continued strengthening of judicial fairness, human rights.

Commemoration also requires us to open our eyes to the suffering of today's victims and to the primacy of responsible and rational action.

On behalf of the Anne Frank Fonds and the family:

Buddy Elias
