First ever complete edition of all Anne Frank's texts

Anne Frank wrote various versions of her diaries. One version was rewritten for later publication. This was to be the only wish of Anne Frank that was fulfilled - albeit after her death. Before the reading, Anne Frank's cousin, Buddy Elias, told the audience: "It was always her dream to have something published one day."

For the first time ever, the Anne Frank Fonds Basel has brought all of Anne Frank's texts, including previously unpublished material, together in a single volume. The book "Anne Frank: Complete edition" contains both versions of the diary written by Anne Frank herself, along with the internationally accepted standard reader's edition complied by Otto Frank and Mirjam Pressler from the two original versions. In addition, the volume contains the stories and essays that Anne Frank wrote while hidden away in the secret annex as well as all known letters, such as those to her grandmother and cousins. Furthermore, it includes her collection of pleasing phrases from her favourite books, autograph album entries, and an album that she kept for her notes on Ancient Greek and Roman myths.

The complete edition, part of which features new translations, contains many photos, facsimiles and documents, as well as discerning introductions to Anne Frank's life and family history (by Mirjam Pressler), to the historical context (by Gerhard Hirschfeld) and to the history of the diary's impact (by Francine Prose). A chronology, a family tree and a selected bibliography complete this edition and should ensure that this will establish itself as the accepted standard complete edition of Anne Frank's works for years to come.
