Ari Folman to produce animated film about Anne Frank

The Anne Frank Fonds and Ari Folman have spent three years developing a ground-breaking animation project about Anne Frank and have now announced their plans publicly.  Israeli film-maker Ari Folman was recently awarded the European Film Award for Best Animated Film for "The Congress". Folman will have complete access to archives of the Anne Frank Fonds and the Frank family around the world. This includes previously inaccessible material. Ari Folman sees the implementation of this project as "a fantastic opportunity". He has said that there is a real need to produce a film of this kind to keep the memory of Anne Frank's diary alive and to make it accessible to younger generations. Production of the film is due to start in late 2014.
